Children’s fun week this summer holidays

As part of the school summer holidays, we will be hosting a Children’s Fun Week. This involves a series of workshops for youngsters every day from Monday, August 5 until Sunday, August 11 in a dedicated fun area near our reception.

On Monday, August 5 children will be able to decorate a homemade biscuit. There will be card making workshops on the Tuesday and pebble painting will take place on Wednesday, August 7.

Youngsters will have the opportunity to make a winter hotel for bees, wasps and spiders at a willow workshop on Thursday, August 8 and make paper dolls on Friday, August 9.

On Saturday, August 10, we will host snail racing, which is a pastime that involves two or more snails racing across a track usually no longer than 14 inches long. The snails are marked with a number or colour to distinguish them.

We will have a few contenders from our gardens to race, but people are invited to bring in any snails from their own gardens to take part, as long as they take them away again afterwards!

The Sunday will feature collage making with leaves and twigs too. These are drop-in any time sessions and families can just turn up.

The workshops will take place from 11am until 3.30pm every day. The activities are suitable for youngsters aged from seven to 12-years-old. Each activity will cost £1 per child and children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
