What's happening in Houseplants?

It’s busy, busy, busy in the houseplants section of the garden centre at the moment. We’re all preparing for the biggest event of the year and making sure we have the best quality plants in-stock for the festive season.

We have been spending a large chunk of our time visiting our dedicated growers to look at popular Christmas blooms such as cyclamen and poinsettias. Both are very popular during the Christmas period so we take the time to source the very best ones we can find – our growers never let us down!

Poinsettias are really easy to care for. Just ensure the plant is kept in a draught free, warm and sunny position and don’t allow leaves to touch cold windows. It really couldn't be any simpler and they only need a drink when the top soil is dry.

Cyclamen make fab gifts and need a cool position with some good natural light. The plants can be watered from the bottom and faded flowers should be removed to encourage more growth.

The team has also been busy sourcing baskets and bowls for our planted flower arrangements. These are always extremely popular during the winter and festive periods so we try to make sure we find the best products to use as a base. The arrangements make great gifts and decorations for the home.

As well as plants we’ve also been stocking up on festive gift-wrap as we’re offering a special gift-wrapping service to people who spend £5 or more on plants. The different varieties of wrapping are always extremely festive and give the plants that extra special touch.

The Christmas period is one of our busiest and although it takes a lot of preparation, we love it!
