De-clutter your shed and donate unwanted tools

Anyone who is de-cluttering their shed this autumn is being invited to donate their old and unwanted tools to our ‘Tools Shed’ programme.

We’ve decided to keep our Tools Shed programme running as it has been extremely popular in the past and lots of worthy causes have benefitted from it.

The programme is run in conjunction with The Conservation Foundation. We collect the tools and then they are picked up by the foundation and repaired in a number of UK prisons. Once they have been refurbished we will call for people to put their schools or organisations forward to receive some for free.

We will be accepting trowels, spades, hand and garden forks, hoes, good old-fashioned garden rakes and lawn rakes, but not tools that are powered by electricity or are petrol-driven. Secateurs also cannot be accepted.

Just drop off your unwanted tools at the reception desk inside the main entrance and we will organise the refurbishment from the Conservation Foundation.

The tools collected will be donated to the Tools Shed initiative and will be repaired at Her Majesty’s Prison (HMP) Dartmoor. Other Tools Shed prisons in the UK include HMPs Wandsworth and High Down in the London area, HMPs Edinburgh and Cardiff and Morton Hall IRC in Lincolnshire.
