Plant Of The Month - February - Prunus subhirtella ‘Autumnalis Rosea’

This charming ornamental Cherry delights with clusters of semi-double blush pink flowers, illuminating any mild winter’s day. Flowering from late autumn to early spring on bare branches, its leaves turn yellow in autumn before falling.
It is a compact tree, reaching only around 5 metres in 10 years, and is suitable for small gardens, as it has several periods of interest. It will grow successfully in any aspect, in any soil that has first been improved with compost and fertiliser. It would look especially pretty under planted with Hellebores and Cyclamen or early flowering bulbs, such as Snowdrops.
