Schoolchildren challenged to grow the biggest pumpkin
Our pumpkin
growing competition was extremely successful last year and we had some great
entries so have decided to run it again.
We’re inviting
schools in the area to take part as it is a great way to get children gardening
and learning more about growing fruit. Representatives from schools are welcome
to come along during our Magical May event on May 15th, 16th and 17th to pick up seed
packets for the competition.
The schools and
children can then plant the seeds and we will be inviting them to come back in
October with their pumpkins so we can see who has grown the largest.
Children must
have their parents’ permission to enter the competition and the winners will be
expected to take part in photographs and publicity.
This is a great
opportunity for schools, especially those with gardening clubs and we hope lots
of children get involved. It’s always really exciting planting seeds and seeing
how they grow, we’re looking forward to seeing how big the pumpkins get.
