The latest from our Elm Tree restaurant

We’re absolutely thrilled that our new Elm Tree restaurant has opened bang on schedule and it was lovely to see lots of customers visiting us on our first day of opening on Wednesday.

If you haven’t already popped in for a cup of tea or coffee or a spot of lunch then you’re definitely missing out!

The new build has a footprint of nearly 1000sqm and a brand new kitchen with state-of-art equipment. It comprises of a modern coffee lounge, a large serving island, which includes a deli counter and juice bar, and a self-service drinks area. You might even spot our Operations Manager, Denis, whipping up a crepé or two at the crepé station.

There’s also a kids’ corner where you can pick up special snack boxes for your little ones to enjoy.

The restaurant seats 350 in comfortable, stylish seating, which is perfect if you’re coming for a family day out. You can also see into the main cooking area where our chefs work and there is lots of seating outside too, so you can enjoy the good weather.

We hope you’ll be impressed by our feature wall too, which includes scenes from across Somerset. One of the pictures, the steam train at Bishop’s Lydeard, was taken by our own member of staff, Matthew Vowles, who is a photographer in his spare time.

You also won’t fail to spot the giant leaves that are the focal point of the restaurant and our snazzy, over-sized light shades.

Our first day was a huge success with lots of you popping in to see us. Our very first customer through the door on Wednesday was Anthony Smith who has been visiting us every day, excluding Sundays, for 10 years for his morning coffee and he was very impressed by the new build and the coffee. We hope you will be too!

We’re now working towards an official grand launch event at the end of June and we’ll let you know when we have more details to reveal.
