Our favourite potato varieties

When it comes to growing spuds there are so many different varieties to choose from. Here are six of our favourite varieties for growing:
 
Swift
The fastest maturing of the first early varieties and the quickest to produce heavy crops of round, smooth, white-fleshed baby new potatoes that are larger than the Rocket variety.

Wilja
A popular second early variety. It offers high yields and is great for boiling. It makes for tasty roasters too.

Pentland Crown
An early maincrop variety that is perfect for mashing, boiling, baking and roasting. A great all rounder!

Arran Pilot
A first early, white-skinned, waxy spud. Wonderful for salads or as a new potato.

Foremost
Firm and full of good flavour with a slightly waxy firm white flesh. Good for all kitchen uses.

Rocket
A very early bulking and heavy cropping first early variety. It produces round, white-skinned spuds. Lovely!
