Get your gardening quiz hats on in aid of charity

As part of our fundraising efforts for Garden Re-Leaf Day and Greenfingers, we are hosting a gardening quiz to test the knowledge of all the keen horticulturalists in the area.

The quiz will take place in our Elm Tree restaurant on Thursday, March 17 from 6.45pm and tickets will cost £5 per person for teams of up to four people. The price will include a savoury platter for the table, which will be provided during the mid-quiz break.

Teams can book their spots now at our reception desk or on our website here. The prize for the winning team will be a selection of plants for them to take home.

Linda Petrons, Head of Fundraising at Greenfingers, said: “We are thrilled that staff and customers at Monkton Elm Garden & Pet Centre are getting quizzical and supporting Garden Re-Leaf Day. Their FUNdraising evening will help Greenfingers to continue its work creating magical, inspiring and therapeutic gardens in children’s hospices, enabling children and families to enjoy precious time together outside in the fresh air.”

Garden Re-Leaf Day is a nationwide initiative, which encourages members of the horticultural industry to mark the start of the spring gardening season by organising events or activities. As well as creating awareness of gardening, one of the main aims of the day is to raise money for Greenfingers.

Since Greenfingers was established in 1999 it has completed 49 garden and outdoor spaces at children’s hospices across the UK.

Growers, plant breeders, retailers, manufacturers and a host of gardening journalists and celebrities have willingly contributed materials, time and expertise to create gardens at children’s hospices around the UK.
