Learn to 'colour your world' during Spring Open Week

We could all do with some much needed colour in our lives after a dull and frosty winter so our Spring Open Week, from March 14 until 20, has a ‘colour your world’ theme, which will be spread across the entire garden centre.

You will be able to get free advice from our very knowledgeable staff about injecting some life and colour into your gardens as it’s well known that colourful plants can help cheer you up. We’ll be able to advise on the best colourful plants to include and which varieties work well together.

We’ll also have special offers on throughout the week, which you can qualify for if you download our voucher booklet from our website at www.monktonelmgardencentre.co.uk.

During the week we will be offering breakfasts, lunches and afternoon teas in its Elm Tree restaurant.

We will also be running a children’s Bake Off competition. Children are being asked to bake a cake at home and bring it, along with the recipe, along to the garden centre’s conference room on Saturday, March 19 between 10am and 2pm.

The cakes will be judged from 2pm and the winners announced at 3pm. There are two age categories for the competition, one for children aged 11-years-old and under and one for children aged 12-years-old to 16-years-old.

The winners will receive a £25 voucher as well as having their recipe made up and featured on the restaurant’s menu in April. The runner up in each category will receive a £10 voucher.

There will also be a raffle taking place in aid of Greenfingers, which builds gardens at children’s hospices across the UK.

Tickets cost £1 and there are £1,500 worth of prizes for the winners to choose from, including an Alexander Rose garden bench worth £175 and a nest of oak tables worth £245 as well as crates of seeds, gardening tools and Sunday lunch or afternoon tea in our restaurant.

The raffle will be drawn on Saturday, March 18 and winning tickets will be displayed in-store. If you buy a ticket you will be invited back to see what you have won.

We hope you can join us during the week.
