Your garden centre needs you!

We’re throwing a 1940’s-themed tea party on Thursday, July 7 from 3pm to help Barnardo’s celebrate its 150th birthday and to raise awareness and funds.

We know how talented the people of Somerset are so we’re looking for any vintage 1940’s singers or entertainers who might be interested in performing during the afternoon for the charity event. We can offer you free promotion across our social media and customer newsletter and we’d be happy for you to bring along flyers or posters promoting any shows or events you might be hosting in the future, but we’re really looking for free entertainment so we can give the biggest donation to the charity possible.

During the party we’ll be offering afternoon teas, which include unlimited tea and coffee, in our Elm Tree Restaurant for £6.99 per-person or £3.99 per child. At the event you will be able to find out more about the work Barnardo’s does and chat to representatives as well as enjoy themed music. There will also be a treasure hunt for children as well as craft activities. We are hoping to just cover our costs and donate around 60-70% of our proceeds to the charity.

Anyone interested in performing at the garden centre should get in touch with our Store Manager, Andrew Pitman, by calling 01823 412381.

We will also be hosting a raffle on the day of the tea party so anyone interested in donating a prize should also get in touch.

It looks set to be a great event and we hope to raise lots of money for Barnardo’s and the fantastic work it does.

The donations from the event will be used to support some of the services provided by Barnardo’s in Somerset.

In the area the charity is responsible for the Family Link Service, which supports children with complex health needs or life-limiting conditions and the Mandala Therapy and Play Service, which offers specialised therapeutic support to children who have experienced trauma or abuse.

Barnardo’s also works in partnership with Knightstone Housing Association to deliver the Somerset Integrated Domestic Abuse Service to support families with children who have experienced domestic abuse.
