Go wild on the Island of Madagascar

We’re inviting children to our wildlife weekend being held with Exmoor Zoo on Saturday, July 23 and Sunday, July 24.

Our Wildlife Weekends are always well attended and we know how popular the Madagascar children’s films are so this year we have decided that the theme of the weekend is the Island of Madagascar.

Representatives from Exmoor Zoo will be joining us on each day to talk to visitors about wildlife and the environment and they’ll be bringing a selection of creatures for children to meet too.

Our Pet Centre team will be dressed as lemurs on the day and youngsters are welcome to come along dressed up too. There will be a treasure hunt taking place where children will be able to search for wild unicorns, which the Craft Centre have made in order to raise money for Conquest Centre in Taunton.

Children will be able to make friendship bracelets using Madagascan raffia, paint their own papercraft Lemurs and have a go at Kopal rubbing to see if they can discover an ancient insect!

Our restaurant and Pondside Café will also be getting in on the wild action and will be serving up Madagascar Vanilla Coffees.

On the menu in our restaurant on both days will be banana loaf, Malagasy Cake, which is tapioca based, and Mofo Gasy (Madagascan pancakes) with vanilla/rum sauce or vanilla ice cream. If that wasn’t enough there will be Ramazava (beef, ginger and green pepper stew) sizzling on the hotplate and the deli will be serving Hot or Not Chicken Skewers.
