1920s vintage pics and props wanted for flower show

We’re calling for donations of copies of photographs of Somerset from the 1920s, and 1926 in particular, and props including a post office bike, to be displayed in our show garden at this year’s Taunton Flower Show.

For this year’s garden we are recreating a 1926 Somerset scene with lots of vintage props and pictures as well as vintage-inspired flowers and plants.

If anyone has any images of Somerset or Taunton from 1926, or the 1920s in general, and would be happy for us to borrow them for the garden, it would be great if you could get in touch. You can give us a call on 01823 412381 and ask for our Store Manager, Andrew Pitman or our Head of Plants, Fiona Smart. We’re also looking for a 1920s post office bike to use as a major part of the garden and any other vintage props that people might have too.

We chose the year 1926 as this was the year Her Majesty, The Queen, was born and we thought it would be a great way to celebrate. We can’t wait to unveil the finished garden and anyone who is able to donate will receive special thanks on our social media pages and will be credited on the garden as well.

The Taunton Flower show is held annually and attracts more than 24,000 visitors over its two days. The first show was held in 1866 and apart from during the Second World War, has been held every year since.

The 1926-themed garden will be on display at Taunton Flower Show at Vivary Park in Taunton on Friday, August 5 and Saturday, August 6.
