Andrew gallops off with top prize for show pony stallion

Our very own Store Manager, Andrew Pitman, recently picked up a top prize for his show pony at a national awards ceremony.

Andrew, and his business partner Deborah Porter, won the accolade for Leading Sire of the Year awarded by the Kellythorpe Stud at the Horse of the Year Show for their riding pony stallion Cusop Dimension.

Andrew, who runs Wyecroft and Whiteleaze pony stud outside Taunton with Deborah, said: “Deborah and I are absolutely delighted to have won the award for Overall Leading Sire of the Year. This is the fourth year running Cusop Dimension has won the show pony section, but the first time he has been overall champion therefore the Leading Sire of the Year.

“This is a testament to the breeding program of the Cusop stud. Cusop was also crowned the Overall Leading Sire of the Year out of all 19 sections.”

The stud also bred the Topham Barn’s Show Hunter Pony of the Year with their home bred Wyecroft New Dimension.

The Kellythorpes Leading Breeder and Kellythorpes Leading Sire Awards series applies to 19 different sections of horses and ponies, including one for each of the 12 native breeds and the other seven breeds and types represented in HOYS qualifiers.

The awards are decided by using a points table. The points from the whole season, for each horse or pony, are added together and collated into tables giving the overall winners for each category.
