Plant Of The Month - April - Ceanothus 'Concha'

A bigger Californian Lilac giving year round structure and leaf colour as well as a rich display of spring flowers.

With so many evergreen Ceanothus to choose from, ‘Concha’ stands out.  A hybrid of Impressus x papillosus it is both hardy and distinct.  With a height and spread of approximately 3 metres, ‘Concha’ is a substantial shrub without being too invasive.  The branches are arching in habit and the foliage is narrow, dark green and deeply veined.  In late spring and early summer, ‘Concha’ is spectacular with clusters of deep blue flowers that emerge from deep red buds to form a cloud of blue.
