Jobs to do in the garden in July – fertilise

We’ve been enjoying some good weather this month, which is perfect for sitting and enjoying your garden in. 

If you’re wondering what jobs you could be getting on with this month, then read on:

• Add fertiliser to your borders if you haven’t already done so as it is not too late to do so this month
• Hedges will require a high dose of fertiliser as the plants grow close together and compete for nutrients
• Feed container plants to supplement nutrients
• Add a layer of mulch around the base of rhododendrons and azeleas, as their roots grow just under the soil’s surface and are prone to drying out
• Feed tomato plants weekly with a high potash feed.
