More than £3k raised for children’s charity

During the past 12 months we have collected £3,020 for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) through our Easter activities, Open Weeks and evenings, and Santa’s grotto.

We’d like to say a huge ‘thank you’ to all of our generous customers who donated to the charity during our various events. We’d also like to thank all of our staff for their hard work in organising events such as our Easter treasure hunts, Open Evenings and of course, the biggest event of the year, our Santa’s grotto.

CHSW is currently the only provider of specialist hospice care for children in the region. It offers much needed support for youngsters with a life-limiting or life-threatening condition and their families at its three hospices: Charlton Farm in North Somerset, Little Bridge House in North Devon and Little Harbour in Cornwall.

Gill Brown, the Chairwoman of the Bridgwater Friends of CHSW, said: “Our relationship with Monkton Elm started 10 years ago after I wrote to the staff asking for a donation for a raffle prize. We ended up becoming its Charity of the Year and have been working with them ever since.

“We’re thrilled at the recent donation, which will go towards the work we do for our three children’s hospices. Since the Bridgwater Friends of CHSW established we have raised £280,000 and are always extremely grateful to Monkton Elm for contributing towards this year after year.

“All of the volunteers and staff really enjoy attending the garden centre’s events and working with the extremely friendly and helpful staff.”
